IVF is often thought of as a purely scientific and medical process but at its heart, it’s profoundly human. It involves vulnerability, trust, and an incredible amount of courage from the people who choose to walk this path.

Recently, after an egg collection procedure, a moment unfolded that reminded me just how deeply personal this journey is. One of our scientists, who usually stays behind the scenes, came to me visibly moved. A patient in recovery had asked to speak with him something he had never experienced before.

She simply asked him to “Please look after my eggs.”

This request, simple yet profound, perfectly captures the weight our patients carry with them. It’s the hope for a future family. The fear of the unknown. The trust placed in every member of the team—from doctors and nurses to scientists and support staff.

IVF is truly a team effort, built on a shared commitment to honour that trust and provide every patient with the best possible chance of success. It’s a reminder that behind every procedure is a story, a dream, and a person who deserves care, compassion, and respect.

Whether you are starting your own IVF journey or supporting someone who is, know that you are not alone. This path is challenging, but it is also filled with moments of connection and hope that make every step worthwhile.
